WE ARE

THE TEAM

The Created started in the boot of a Honda Jazz - with a box of inventory, a mustard seed of faith, and an idea just crazy enough to work. It did, but not alone.

Today we're a team of five, proudly operating out of our office in Techno Park, Stellenbosch.

Marlise, our founder, is the one who traded a full-time job with her nose in the spreadsheets for this crazy venture. Shân runs our digital world. if you found us online, that's her. She keeps the website alive, the content flowing, and somehow makes it look relatively easy. Spoiler: it isn't. Elchristi makes sure The Created gets into the right hands and the right spaces through valuable partnerships. She is also the resident cheerleader who makes sure we never forget to have fun! Senobia is the calm and steady presence behind every order that leaves our door and is quietly the reason everything runs as smoothly as it does. And Natasha is the friendly voice behind customer interactions, making sure every customer feels looked after.

We don't just work together - we build together. From concept to customer, this is a team effort!

The Potter and the clay

WHY ARE WE CALLED "THE CREATED"?

The name holds a deep, personal meaning rooted in faith. It began with a dream Marlise had during lockdown in 2020.

Inspired by Isaiah 64:8 - “We are the clay, You are our potter; we are all the work of Your hand” - a deep conviction followed: we believe we were created by the God of the Bible, on purpose, in His image.

In that moment, she knew - if she ever started a business, the name would be something that holds this meaning.

Every piece, every visit, is an invitation to pause and ask: Who made you?

Because you weren’t made by accident, but by a God who sees the whole picture.

WHERE OUR JEWELLERY COMES FROM

Our jewellery is imported and produced by international suppliers with whom we have built long-term personal relationships.

We don’t simply select pieces from catalogues and resell them. We carefully select jewellery in person, selecting only a small portion for our collections based on two equally important factors - quality and design.

Once the jewellery arrives in South Africa it undergoes an in-house chemical test and in-depth quality control - every clasp, chain, ring, and finish is inspected by hand.

This approach allows us to offer high-quality, long-lasting jewellery at an accessible price point, while supporting local employment and partnering with other creators.

THE JEWELLERY

Our suppliers use Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD), an advanced coating technique that bonds colour and finish to the metal at a molecular level, making it significantly more durable and long-lasting than traditional plating.

Every piece is made from stainless steel or titanium, with gold-toned designs plated in genuine 14K or 18K gold.

Each piece is waterproof and tarnish-resistant, so you can sweat, swim, shower, sleep, and repeat without taking it off. Live your best life without worrying about your jewellery throwing in the towel.
